Update: Perryton Firefighters Injured, One Dies During a Call

UPDATE: Perryton’s Assistant Fire Chief Scott Glass has died from injuries while responding to a structure fire on Thursday.

PERRYTON, Texas (KFDA) – Officials have confirmed that the assistant fire chief and two volunteer firefighters of the Perryton Fire Department were injured after responding to a structure fire.
Officials say last night around 10:44 p.m., a call was received about a fully engulfed structure fire on NW 2nd Ave.
Both the Perryton Fire Department and Perryton Police Department initially responded to the incident.
Officials say as firefighters and police were setting up equipment, firehoses and traffic control, a five inch soft fire hose, while being charged with water, whipped and injured three firefighters.
According to officials, Assistant Fire Chief Scott Glass sustained serious head injuries, was airlifted to a hospital in Amarillo and is in critical condition.
Volunteer Firefighter Thomas Beal sustained a broken arm and other fractures and is currently in the hospital in stable condition undergoing an observation period.
Volunteer Firefighter Jacob Anderson was treated and released with minor injuries.
Perryton Fire and EMS personnel are with the families of those inured and ask for prayers for all involved.
