Norman E. Roehr, 86, passed away peacefully at his farm in the home he built surrounded by his family on October 10, 2024.

Norman was born November 19th, 1937 to Vergil E. and Mildred (Reiss) Roehr. He lived his whole life on the family farm NW of Kismet, KS. He was the oldest of three children and loved his brother Larry and sister Elaine very much.

A lifelong member of the Kismet/Plains farming community. Norman graduated in 1956 from the Kismet High School. He was a member of the Plains Methodist church and served on the Farm Service Agency board for many years. He was a busy farmer but loved sprint car racing. He raced his own car at Kismet racetrack for many years.

Norman always had a love for farming. He spent his entire life continuing the amazing farming legacy his father created. He farmed alongside his three sons teaching them the commitment & values of taking care of the land. He proudly passed the legacy to his boys, but never stopped loving the land.

Norman married Janice (Jan) Johnson at the farm on March 3rd 1979. Together they shared 45 amazing years filled with love, laughter & family.

Norman is survived by his loving wife Janice. His three sons – Bruce Roehr, Kirk E. Roehr (Valerie), Roger Roehr (Mary) His three stepchildren – Rob Robey (Joni), Lori Ernst (Paul), Teri Cirbus (Pat) His brother & best friend – Larry Roehr (Roma Ann) 12 grandchildren – Justin Roehr (Stephanie), Joshua Roehr (Kelli), Ryan Roehr (Yessenia), Brittani Roehr, Tyler Roehr, Erin Roehr, Jade Day (Stephen), Jared Robey (Lindsay), Alisha Bowser (Marc), Erik Ernst (Ali), Courtney Neumann, Dillon Neumann (Alisha). 16 great grandchildren And many special nieces and nephew along with many grandnieces & grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved sister & brother-in-law, Elaine & John Newlon and great granddaughter Marley Neumann.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 West 2nd Street, Liberal. The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Plains Methodist Church, 601 Grand Avenue, Plains, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Liberal Cemetery. Family will gather at Plains Community building at 12:30 PM and invite all to attend to celebrate the life of Norman Roehr.

Memorials may be made to Plains Methodist Church or Kismet Lions Club to support the Kismet Little World’s Fair in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Street Liberal, KS 67901.
