Flora Food Company recently, successfully participated in a bid to purchase the assests of a closed dairy ingredient manufacturing facility in Hugoton Kansas. The state-of-the-art factory which closed in early 2024 is intended to be used by Flora Food Company to establish a production facility for an array of dairy free and melange creams products. Flora Food Company in the US currently relies on imports from Flora Food Company’s European facilities for its creams products. The purchase is expected to close over the week.

The Hugoton facility under Flora Food Company will provide a local supply chain solution to support the establishment and growth of a creams business in the US. The facility is intended to ultimately supply product to the US, Canada, and Latin America. Flora Food Company is excited to expand the Flora Food Company business and anticipate being operational during 2025. Flora Food Company looks forward to welcoming back former employees displaced by the closed facility and returning critical industry to Hugoton.

Stevens County Economic Development Director Jan Leonard says, “We are happy to have Flora Food Company coming to Hugoton, and are excited to work with them to bring jobs back to Hugoton.”

Hiring will be announced through the Hugoton Chamber of Commerce. Upper management is now being considered for those positions.
