After spending the past two years with Seward County and helping lead the Lady Saints to their best season in recent years while breaking records along the way, Samantha Gomez has made the decision to sign with Bethany College and suit up for the Swedes in the 2025 season at the four-year level.
Gomez improved her numbers tremendously in the 2024 season as a sophomore, raising her batting average to .415 and her OBP to .558 with an eye for the ball when at the plate. She connected on 49 hits as a sophomore with 8 doubles, 3 triples, and 4 home runs while also recording 46 runs and 25 RBIs throughout 43 games.
Over the course of her two-year career with Seward County, Gomez climbed up the record book in multiple stat categories with her most notably becoming the Lady Saints all-time leader in walks with 54 on her career. Gomez also stepped up at the plate and slugged out a total of 88 hits, 18 doubles, 4 triples, and 5 home runs throughout her career with the Lady Saints while also scoring 67 runs and 49 RBIs to finish off her career in green.
“Samantha was a great asset to our team” said Head Coach Kristen Silva “She has grown so much and was the type of leader that just performed. She had so much determination on and off the field, she led by example everywhere she went. I am excited that she will be continuing her education and athletic career at Bethany. Bethany will be getting a hard-working young lady that will make an impact on and off the field. We wish her well and look forward to watching her play at Bethany.”
Gomez will head a couple hours down the road to join Bethany College for the 2025 campaign for a Swedes team who went 19-21 overall in 2024 with a conference record of 12-14. Throughout those 19 wins on the season, 10 of those came in series sweeps for the Swedes including a doubleheader sweep over Southwestern with a 4-0 win in game one followed by a 12-0 win in game two. After helping lead the Lady Saints back to success this past season, Gomez is looking to continue that with Bethany College.
Gomez is now one of three four-year signings for the Seward County Lady Saints from the 2024 class as she joins Aaliyah Gutierrez (Northwestern Oklahoma State University) and Noemi Tudon (Waldorf University) as they will all continue their careers at the next level.
