Liberal, Kansas – Seward County Mens Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran has announced a new addition to his 2024 staff with the hiring of John Avalos as the new Assistant Mens Soccer Coach.

Avalos joins the Saints with a wealth of experience over the past few years having been an Assistant Coach at Oklahoma Panhandle State right down the road where he helped work with their goalkeepers in preparation for game days. In his first year with the Aggies in 2019 he helped lead their team to a 9-6-2 overall record while going even conference action at 4-4-1 in the first year for the program at OPSU. From there he continued to work with and improve the Aggies roster and grow the skillsets of the goalkeepers to continue the success of the OPSU Mens Soccer program.

“Excited and ready to help build and bring success to Seward County” said Assistant Coach John Avalos. “I strongly believe we have the right vision and standards to compete with the very best.”

Avalos joins a Saints staff that just wrapped up the inaugural season for Seward County Mens Soccer that wrapped up the 2023 season with a .500 record of 8-8-3 on the year while going undefeated in nonconference action. All six players that were named to the All-KJCCC selections will return in 2024 for the Saints with First Team selection Bruno Mestres protecting the goal for Seward County for the second straight season.

“We are excited to have John join our coaching staff. He brings valuable experience as a goalkeeper and as a goalkeeper’s coach, as well as insight into the local area after living and playing in nearby Guymon, OK, and working as a coach with OPSU and in our very own town with club Atletico Liberal” said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. “We are looking forward to how his addition will help the program continue to grow this coming fall.”
