Kansas wheat crop showing stress from disease

WICHITA, Kan. – Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service says the Kansas wheat crop is starting to show some stress from disease and lack of moisture.

A report issued Monday says 38 percent of the wheat has now headed, which is about average for this time of the year.

Crop condition was pegged as 11 percent excellent, 53 percent good and 28 percent fair. About 8 percent were in the poor to very poor categories.

Most of the corn has now been planted. Corn condition was rated as 6 percent excellent, 72 percent good and 21 percent fair. Just 1 percent was in poor shape.
