Deer/Vehicle Accident on Highway 54 in Seward County

Joe Denoyer - May 28, 2024 3:46 pm

On Sunday, May 26th at approximately 2:10 am, Selene Zamora Nava from Plains was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse eastbound on Hwy 54 at approx. mile marker 16.75 when a deer came from the North of the grass median. The Traverse struck the deer causing extensive front end damage. The radiator of the vehicle was pushed into the engine block, which made the vehicle not drivable.

Selene and her passenger were not injured and both seatbelts were in use.

The Sheriff and his office, would like to remind everyone to be safe when driving. We have been seeing a lot of deer around the area.
