Accident in Gray County Injures Five

Five people were injured in a crash in Gray County Monday afternoon 1.5 miles north of Copeland.

The accident occurred at 2:20 p.m. when Gwyneth Jantz, 17 of Montezuma, was driving a 2023 Ford Super Duty northbound on 2 Road at Kansas Highway 144. With her were two 19-year-old girls Alleris Granados of Fowler and Alexa Seib of Montezuma and a juvenile.

At the same time, 51-year-old Hugo Montes from Liberal was driving a 2012 Peterbilt hauling a trailer eastbound on Kansas Highway 144.

Jantz the driver of the Ford did not stop at the stop sign and hit the Peterbilt.

Jantz and Granados had possible injuries and were taken to St. Catherine’s hospital. Seib had suspected serious injuries and was taken to St. Catherine’s also. The status of the juvenile is unknown.

Montes the driver of the Peterbilt had suspected serious injuries and was taken to a Dodge City hospital.
