LHS Softball Gains WAC Win on Senior Night

The Liberal softball team took a blowout loss and gained a blowout win against the Dodge City Red Demons Thursday afternoon and evening at the National Beef Sports Complex. Dodge won the first game 9-1 and LHS took game two 17-7 for their first WAC win of the season.
In game one, DCHS plated single runs in the first and second but blew it open with four in the fifth and three in the sixth. DCHS out-hit LHS 11-6. Liberal had three errors and DC had two. Taylor Harding was 3-4 and Zoey Torres was 2-3 in the loss.
In game two, the Demons scored four in the second but the Redskins answered with two. DCHS plated two in the third for a 6-2 lead. But Liberal unleashed a nine run inning to take an 11-6 lead. Liberal added a five run sixth and won in a run rule. Taylor Harding was 3-5 with three RBI’s and a double. Miley Janko was 2-5 with two doubles and three RBI’s. Elizabeth Mannel was 2-4 with a double and three RBI’s. Marypher Lopez was 2-5 with two RBI’s. Lexi Miller added a double and three RBI’s.
Dodge City is 4-20 overall and 2-10 in the WAC. Liberal is 6-17 overall and 1-10 in the WAC. Liberal hosts Garden City at 3pm on Friday at the National Beef Sports Complex.
