Tyler, Texas – The 2024 season has come to an end in Tyler, Texas with the Seward County Lady Saints Tennis team finishing the National Tournament in 6th place with a total of 26 points with four Lady Saints advancing to the Quarterfinals while Ana Isabela Serrano made her way to the Semifinals.
Seward County for the second straight year placed sixth in the NJCAA National Tournament down in Texas with a total of 26 points combined through all five days with four Lady Saints in Serrano, Polya Nikolova, Alejandra Ramirez Botella, and Camila Corrales all making their way to the Quarterfinal rounds on Monday.
Serrano was the only one to take down her opponent in the Quarterfinals with a win over her opponent from Tyler Junior College in three-sets to make her way to the Semifinal round. Unfortunately, her season came to an end in the semis to her opponent from Hillsborough the following morning but a strong finish in the consolation bracket by Laura Torres helped the Lady Saints gain enough points to remain in sixth place to end their season.
“I am proud of our season and our national tournament performance” said Head Coach Brett Bridel. “We had a very young team, no returning leaders, so to be able to finish #6 in the nation is a testament to the hard work and dedication by those young players. This season and the national tournament experience will make us better and more prepared for next year.”
