Redskins Make it 9 of Last 10 With Sweep Over Mustangs

The Liberal baseball team has won nine of their last 10 after sweeping the Southwestern Heights Mustangs 13-3 and 15-0 Monday evening at National Beef Sports Complex.  The first game went five innings and the second game lasted three innings.

In game one, the Angry Red scored five in the first, two in the second and third, and four in the fourth.  Skyler Hubbard pitched four strong innings with four strikeouts and one walk for the win.  Blayden Betts closed it out.  Brooks Kappelmann was 2-2 with four runs and a triple.  Erek Lira and Landon Martinez were both 2-4.  Lira, Marco Alonso, Zayden Martinez, and Adan Mata had two RBI’s a piece.  Aidan Schwindt hit a double.

In game two, the Redskins scored three in the first, 10 in the second, and two in the third.  Erek Lira pitched three innings allowing one hit for the win.  Aidan Schwindt was 3-3 with three runs and a double.  Brooks Kappelmann was 3-3 with three runs and three RBI’s and a double.  Zayden Martinez was 2-2 with a triple, three RBI’s, and two runs.  Alex Schwindt drove home two runs.  Austin Dodge and Marco Alonso both hit doubles.

Southwestern Heights is 4-12 and Liberal is 11-7.   The Redskins play at Dodge City’s Demon Field Tuesday night at 6pm on 1270 and 92.3.
