Liberal, Kansas – After leading the Seward County Lady Saints softball team to a perfect 6-0 week in Jayhawk conference action, Alyssa Morgan was named the KJCCC Player of the Week for the first time in her SCCC career as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Morgan was a consistent force for the Lady Saints over the past week as she helped lead Seward County to a perfect 6-0 week where the freshman short stop went 12/20 at the plate while scoring 11 runs and recording 11 RBIs, 2 2Bs, 1 3B, and 2 HRs. She scored 3 runs in each of the Lady Saints run rule wins over the NW Kansas Tech Mavs and hit two home run bombs in game two against Garden City to help SCCC climb up the KJCCC standings. On the defensive side Morgan was able to record 2 POs and 19 assists over the six-game stretch as Seward County grabbed three doubleheader sweeps while run ruling their opponents in their final three games of the week.
On the season Morgan is hitting .403 with 46 RBIs, 11 2Bs, 3 3Bs, and 11 HR in 36 games for the Lady Saints.
Seward County will be back in action tomorrow as they continue KJCCC action against the Pratt Beavers at home on French Family Field as the Lady Saints look to stretch their win streak out to eight.
