Goddard Eisenhower Sweeps Redskins

Brock Kappelmann - April 3, 2024 7:09 am

The Liberal Redskin bats perked up in game two, but it wasn’t quite enough to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Goddard Eisenhower Tigers at Tiger Stadium in Goddard Tuesday afternoon and evening.  The Tigers tamed the Redskins 11-1 in five innings in game one and 12-9 in game two.  The Redskins have dropped four straight.

In game one, the Skins mustered one hit by Blayden Betts.  Liberal struggled defensively with five errors and on the mound with eight walks.  Combined with the games with Hays on Friday, that made seven hits in three games.

Eisenhower jumped all over LHS early in game two before the Redskins mustered some offense.  The Tigers scored five in the first, three in the second, and three in the third to lead 11-2 after three.  The Redskins scored four in the fourth and three in the seventh.  Zayden Martinez pitched three innings without allowing an earned run.  Martinez was 2–3 with a double and two RBI’s.  Brooks Kappelmann was 2-3 with two runs.  Adan Mata was 2-4 with two runs.  Xavier Porras had a double.

Goddard Eisenhower is 3-1.  Liberal is 2-4 and plays at Great Bend Friday at 4pm with Redskin Pre-game at 3:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
