Liberal, Kansas – After his first year at the helm for the Lady Saints basketball program, Head Coach Will Marchino saw his team’s success get recognized as freshman forward Allie Myers and sophomore guard Jamia Carter were both named to the KJCCC All-Conference teams after leading Seward County to a winning record and a quarterfinals appearance in the playoffs.
All-Conference Second Team: Allie Myers
Myers was a double-double machine for the Lady Saints as a freshman, recording 14 double-doubles in 30 games played during her first season for Seward County. She averaged a team high of 13.0 rebounds per game which led the KJCCC and placed her fifth in the country while logging four games of 20+ rebounds. The record books will have her name all over it in the rebounds sections with Myers’ setting a new single-game record with 23 boards in her second game of the season in a win over Otero while also breaking the single season record with 389 rebounds in ten less games than the previous record holder. While being a dominant force on the rebounding end, she also recorded 11.5 points per game along with 1.7 steals for the Lady Saints to earn her a spot on the KJCCC All-Conference Second Team.
All-Conference Honorable Mention: Jamia Carter
A one-year member of Seward County, Carter transferred in and immediately made an impact for the Lady Saints as she led the team in scoring with 14.1 points per game to go along with 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists to earn an Honorable Mention nod to the All-Conference selections. The Las Vegas native reached the double figures scoring mark in twenty-one games while topping 20+ points in eight of them with a career high of 31 points scored in a win over Cisco towards the start of the season.
Myers and Carter helped lead Seward County to a 17-15 overall record in their sole season with the Lady Saints while grabbing a first-round win in the Region VI Tournament over Pratt as the sixth seed in the rankings.
