Seven Youth Wrestlers Qualify for State

On Saturday, March 2, 19 members of Liberal Wrestling Club wrestled for a chance to
advance to State at the District 4 tournament. District 4 is currently the biggest district in the
state with over 1300 wrestlers at the tournament. Seven local youth placed in the top four to
advance to Topeka for state competition March 8-10.
Those that qualified are:
Juan ‘JJ’ Mata, 1st place, 10U 170
Jason Fraire, 3rd place, 8U 110
Sofia Torres, 2nd place, 10U girls 65
Kaylene Robertson, 4th place, 12U girls 100
Jayden Heronemus, 2nd place, 14U 135
Brian Casas, 4th place, HS 113
Aidan Schwindt, 4th place, HS 150

“If you see any of these kids, congratulate them on a very successful season and wish
the state qualifiers luck as they travel to Topeka this weekend. We are very proud of each and
everyone of them for battling it out this season,” Coach Krista Holcomb said.
