Seward County Commission Meets, Approves Insurance Renewal

The Seward County Commission met Monday evening at 5:30 pm and approved the renewal of County insurance, with the grandfathered, BCBS plan, implementation of the IMA Pharmacy Advocate Program, increase employee contributions to $30 for single coverage per month and $300 for family coverage per month, and dental and life insurance policy as presented.

The Commission approved the purchase of a 2024 Motor Grader with rolling packer from Foley Caterpillar in the amount of $410,620.45 and approved an Emergency Resolution declaring a state of local emergency regarding the Andrew Lane Fire.

The Commissioners tabled the action regardingto the donation of insulated 30,000 gallon tanks to be used as a remote water source for the Rural Fire Department pending further cost estimates.

The Board allowed Event Center staff to Encumber $8,278.30 for material to finish projects at the Event Center Shop, and a conversation was started on AED placements in the county buildings and to determine how many and locations where these are would be placed.

Approved was Software (Phone Application) Scheduling and Resourcing for EMS, and M Builders was given permission to order material and invoice $10,000.00 for materials for the Kalwall repair project in support of the window replacement. Final invoicing of the remaining NTE balance would be at the completion of repair work.

A Change Order was approved allowing the contractor to replace the drains as needed on the Courthouse roof.

Commissioners approved letting out bids for used 1200 seat bleachers for the existing Rodeo Arena, and approved the wage adjustments for the eight employees currently making less than $15/hour.

The Commission also approved waiving $1000 in Landfill fees for the recent fire victims.
