Lady Red Rallies for Homecoming Win Over Great Bend

The Liberal Lady Redskins rallied to win in overtime 52-44 over Great Bend in the Big House Friday night.  Liberal trailed most of the game but a Kamilah Delgado lay up with 13.1 second left tied the game and Liberal out scored the Lady Panthers 9-1 in overtime.

Both teams brought it on defense.  GBHS led 4-2 after one quarter.  Great Bend led 11-5 as Liberal struggled on offense.  It was 20-17 Panthers at the half.  The Lady Red took a 29-26 lead early in the third quarter before Great Bend led 32-29 after three.  Great Bend led 36-32 with four minutes remaining.

Liberal won despite shooting 27 percent.  Great Bend shot 30 percent.  Liberal had a huge advantage at the foul line making 22-31 while Great Bend was 9-17.  LHS was 2-16 from three and GBHS was 3-13 from three point range.

Shamari Lewis was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 21 points and eight rebounds.  Hailey Contreras scored 14 and was 7-7 at the free throw line.  Kamilah Delgado grabbed 12 rebounds.

Liberal wins their 16th straight game over Great Bend.  The Lady Panthers are 10-5 and 1-2 in the WAC.  Liberal is 11-4 and 2-1 in the WAC.  Liberal plays at Garden City Tuesday night at 6pm with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
