Tonganoxie Teen Honored With Graduation Has Died

TONGANOXIE, Kan. (AP) – An inspirational Tonganoxie teen who was honored with his own graduation ceremony last week has died.

The family of 18-year-old Connor Olson said he died Wednesday evening after a yearlong fight with cancer. He had also suffered a stroke earlier this month.

Tonganoxie High School celebrated a special graduation ceremony for Olson last Thursday.

The Kansas City Star reports that his father, Martin Olson, says Connor died at home surrounded by his family and friends. He says he believes the graduation ceremony gave his son closure, because he had worked hard to get his diploma.

No funeral arrangements have been made.
