Chavez Brings Home Bracket

On Saturday, December 30, the Liberal Wrestling Club took 15 wrestlers to Scott City for
their last tournament of 2023.

Iovani Chavez, 12U, took first place in his bracket with 2 pins and a win by decision. “We
are very proud of Iovani. He is a new wrestler and has been beaten by one of these opponents
twice. He was pretty nervous going in but after some words of encouragement from coaches
and teammates, he went into the match and won!” said coach Krista Holcomb.

The following wrestlers also medaled at this tournament:
8U: Jesus Perz – 4th place
10U: Ian Holcomb – 3rd place and Juan Mata – 4th place
12U: Imauri Eikenberry – 4th place, Elias Holcomb – 3rd place and Esteban Gomez – 3rd
place
Girls 6U: Lorelai McKim – 2nd place
Girls 8U: Alyvia Holcomb – 3rd place
Girls 10U: Sofia Torres – 2nd place
