Redskins Go to the Glass for Win at Valley Center

The Liberal Redskins are 2-0 for the first time since 2019 after a 79-65 win at Valley Center Tuesday night. Liberal was dominant on the glass in a game which they led by double digits most of the way. Liberal out rebounded VC 38-21. Liberal shot 47 percent from the field.
The Redskins led 18-8 after one and built a 30-13 lead after a Brooks Kappelmann three point play. LHS led 32-16 and led 32-18 at the half. The Redskins led 52-32 and led 56-38 after three.
Brooks Kappelmann was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 26 points and 13 rebounds. James Fieser poured in 20 points and dished five assists with six rebounds. Zayden Martinez added 12 and Carson Chamberlain dropped in 10 points with six rebounds.
It was the first meeting between the two team’s since Melvin Sander’s final game as a Redskin in sub state of 1999.
Valley Center is 0-1. Liberal is 2-0. Liberal hosts Southwestern Heights at 7:45 Friday night on 1270 and 92.3.
