Liberal, Kansas – For the second time this year, Seward County freshman Bruno Mestres was selected as the KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week after helping lead the Saints to a crucial 2-1 win over Dodge City this past Sunday.

Against the Conqs, Mestres faced eight shot on goal attempts from his opponents and recorded seven saves through 90:00 minutes of action, creating multiple saves on the ground and in the air with one coming in a one-on-one situation with a DC3 player where Mestres read the shot perfectly to knock it out of bounds and help secure a victory for Seward County.

Mestres leads the Saints in saves during their inaugural season in 2023 with 101 total saves through 11 games which ranks first in the KJCCC and third in the NJCAA while also recording a .821 save percentage which is the best percentage by any goalkeeper with over 100 saves in the country.

“Bruno has worked so hard for us this season and deserves this honor for what he has done to get our program started” says Jaime Beltran (Head Men’s Soccer Coach). “He has been a leader for our guys to rally behind and continues to make history for us to help set a standard for the future of Seward County soccer”.

The Saints will be back in action for sophomore night on Saturday when they take on Coffeyville in a 6:00 PM conference matchup with KJCCC standings implications on the line for Seward County.
