DonJuan and Hammel Lead Liberal at WAC

Liberal’s girls tennis team competed at the WAC Tournament in Garden City on Monday morning and afternoon.  For LHS, #1 singles Kellyn Phan took 4th going 1-3 for the day, #2 singles Kaylee Velazquez took 5th going 0-4, #1 doubles team Nathalie DonJuan & Kylee Hammel went 2-2 and taking home a 3rd place medal. #2 doubles team Natalie Zuniga & Karime Ojeda went 0-4 and taking 5th. The Lady Red tennis team ended up taking 5th place.

Liberal hosts a 6A regional tournament on Saturday morning at 9am at Blue Bonnet Park. Here are the competing teams:

“Definitely wasn’t the best day for our girls. We struggled to compete in the high winds and definitely left points out there. not the way we hoped to end our regular season, but I know the girls will keep their spirits/heads up in order to compete this weekend at regionals. We don’t always get the results we want l, but we’ll keep working until we do.”
