The Seward County Commission paved the way for wind farms in

the county. Earlier this week county commisioners voted unanimously

to approve a conditional use permit and a resolution authorizing a

permit for Cimarron Wind Project. A site has been selected in Seward

and Meade Counties. The site covers four miles from

north to south and 20 miles east to west. The southern boundary

is just north of Highway 160 about a mile east of Highway 83. It

continues past Plains into Meade County. The project is on a

timeline of about five years.
