Buddie M. Neatherlin

Buddie M. Neatherlin, age 90, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Monday, September 18, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on May 12, 1933, in Clayton, New Mexico, the son of Frank Andy and Clara (Kerkondoff) Neatherlin. 

Buddie grew up in Clayton, New Mexico, and Boise City, Oklahoma. He graduated in 1952 from Boise City High School. Buddie was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. After an honorable discharge, he moved to La Junta, Colorado. He worked for a seismograph company and also in construction. Buddie married Susie Hernandez on October 20, 1955, in La Junta. They have lived in Ulysses since 1974 where he worked at Borderline Well Service, Inc. for many years. Buddie’s hobbies included reading, raising pheasants, collecting barbed wire, and researching family history. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids and attending their sporting events, especially OU softball games.

Buddie is survived by his wife, Susie of their home; children, Buddie and wife Mary, Brian, Judy, Linda, and Andy Neatherlin all of Ulysses; sisters, Lowana Neatherlin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Helen Garcia of Tucumcari, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
  
Buddie is preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Bobbie and Bruce; daughter, Kathy Sue; and siblings, Bill, Raymond, Charles, Frank, Jr. Neatherlin and Glenda Mercer.

Rosary will be Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with military rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Visitation is Friday, September 22, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church or to the National Kidney Foundation in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
