Liberal Girls Tennis Opens Season by Winning Cimarron Tournament

The Liberal High girls tennis team began the sports year with a “W.”  In the first sporting event of 2023-24, the girls won the tournament in Cimarron Thursday morning.  LHS scored 35 points.  Kylee Hammel was second in number one singles while Kellyn Phan took first in number two singles.  The number one doubles team of Nathalie DonJuan and Kaylee Velazquez took second.  The number two doubles team of Lynette Alonso and Karime Ojeda took fourth.

Coach Sergo Borjas comments:

“The girls played extremely well and showed so much heart.  It was awesome to see all the hard work they put in this off season pay off.  Hopefully, we can use this as a stepping stone and improve upon it for the season going forward. ”

Liberal hosts their home tournament September 5 at Blue Bonnet Park.
