Wanda Faye Smith-Bean

After a long and full life Wanda Faye Smith-Bean, age 92, died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born on January 25, 1931, the daughter of Willie Lasley and Ruby Melba (Bolden) Seabolt in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

Wanda graduated in 1949 from Chiliocco School. Wanda was united in marriage to Arthur Jack Smith on October 6, 1950, in Satanta, Kansas, Jack preceded her in death on June 23, 1988. Wanda was a loving mother to one son, James, and two daughters Sandra Joy and Cynthia Kay. In March 2001, she married Jeff Bean in Moscow, Kansas. Jeff passed away later that year on September 5, 2001. Wanda owned and worked her own farm and was a wonderful homemaker. She served her community as a Boy Scout and a Girl Scout leader and worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for Stevens County Ambulance for 20 Years. She had a joyous love of being outdoors, planting flowers and trees and maintained a beautiful yard. Wanda loved all kinds of crafting and spent many hours crocheting pillows and blankets to give away to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Jim Smith and his wife Toni of Moscow, Kansas,
Brother, Billy Seabolt Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Tulsa, Oklahoma,
Sister, Delores “DeeDee” Rayl of Hutchinson, Kansas,
Sister-in-law, Flora Mae Phillips of Joplin, Missouri, two brothers-in-law, Henry Smith and his wife, Joyce of Moscow, Kansas, and Silas Smith and his wife Isabelle. Grandchildren, Stacy Smith of Lenexa, Kansas, Tyler Christian and his wife Cara of Everest, Kansas, Travis Smith of Lenexa, Kansas, Seth Christian and his wife, Sarah of Miles, Texas, Treavor Christian and his wife, Cesilie of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Channing Balmes and her husband, EJ of Miles, Texas, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ruby Seabolt, two brothers, Lynn and Loye Seabolt, two sisters, Doris Starr, and Sadie Breuer, two husbands, Jack Smith and Jeff Bean, two daughters, Sandra Joy Smith and Cynthia Kay Christian, and her great grandson, Dalton Dean Geist.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 21, 2023, at the Moscow Christian Fellowship Church, 304 Main Street, Moscow, Kansas. Pastor Patty Lahey presiding.

The burial will be at 1:30 PM, Monday, August 21, 2023, at the Valley View Cemetery, 2901 N. 3rd Street, Garden City, Kansas.
