Liberal and Hugoton Split Softball Opener

Liberal and Hugoton split a pair in Hugoton Thursday. Hugoton won the first game 13-2 before Liberal’s 8-5 win. In game one, the Eagles plated seven runs in the third to break a 2-2 tie. Megan Campbell was 2-3. In game two, Emily Jackson pitched Liberal to the win. Emily Bayouth and Brooke Scheurman had three hits a piece. Campbell went 2-3 again. Liberal opens their season 1-1 and travels to Goodland Monday. Liberal’s JV won both games 12-6 and 14-1 over Hugoton.
