Former Saint Spiker Signs with Pro Team

Seward County athletics is proud to announce that former Saint Djuly Schmorantz has officially signed to play professional volleyball for Haro Rioja Voley in Spain.

Schmorantz played for the Saints for two years from 2018 to 2019 where she was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection after leading Seward County to back-to-back 30+ win seasons and a perfect 32-0 record in KJCCC action through both years while winning the Region VI Tournament both years and finishing fourth in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2018 and a National Runner Up finish in 2019. Through her two years as a Saint Schmorantz scored a total 836 kills which ranks ninth all-time in program history and 118 service aces which ranks seventh all-time. She also recorded 622 digs and 45 blocks during her two years at Seward County.

After her career with Seward County, Schmorantz signed with Barry University where she played for the Buccaneers during the 2021 and 2022 seasons after the covid year. In two years as a Buccaneer, she was twice named an Honorable Mention AVCA All-American and AVCA All-South Region selection while leading her team to a 41-20 overall record through her two years at Barry U. As a senior in 2022, Schmorantz lead the Buccaneers to a 28-6 overall record and a 16-4 conference record en route to a NCAA South Regional championship while tallying 316 kills, 23 service aces, 378 digs, and 28 blocks. Overall, she wrapped up her collegiate career with 1,491 kills, 1,000 digs, and 178 service aces between Seward County and Barry.

Schmorantz heads to Spain where she will suit up for Haro Rioja Voley to begin her career at the professional level. Haro Rioja Voley is a member of the Superliga Femenina de Voleibol league where they finished eighth in the standings at the end of their 2023 season with a 10-12 record.
