FOWLER – Henry J. (Hank) Fuhrman, age 80, passed away early Monday morning, July 24, 2023, at the Fowler Residential Care Center, Fowler, Kansas.
He was born February 24, 1943, at Fowler, the son of Charley F. and Esther (Cure) Fuhrman. As a young boy, he attended school in Fowler, graduating from Fowler High School in 1961. After his graduation, he began his career as a salesman, selling several items over the years, including Kirby vacuum cleaners, agriculture feed, light bulbs, knives, mobile homes, vehicles and farm equipment. He sold implements for Case IH in Dodge City for many years.
He was a active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, having served on the church council and in various capacities. He enjoyed gardening and baking for farmers markets; friends and family, and attending auctions and finding the best deals. When in better health, he helped distribute food commoditities for Fowler Residents. He always cherished family and friends and time together. He was also a lifetime lover of dogs and always had a canine companion at his side.
He is survived by a brother, Edward Fuhrman of Maize, Kansas; a sister, Ruth Burkhart of Gothenburg, Nebraska; and many nieces, nephews, and their decendents.
He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shannon Sue Fuhrman; his parents; a brother, Joseph Fuhrman; and two sisters, Virginia Lynch and Eileen Hermes.
Rosary service will begin at 10:30am Saturday, July 29, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler, followed by reflections on Hank’s life and Holy Mass. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will be at the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, following mass.
The family would welcome memorials to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
