Kimberly Dawn Hoskinson age 53, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Elkhart, Kansas. Kim was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She was born on July 12, 1970, in Parma, Ohio, to her parents Donald Edward and Carol Ann (Hoskins) Kissell.
Kim dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for others. She was a First Grade Teacher known for her passion for young children and their education.
Justin Craig Hoskinson (Jake) married the love of his life, Kim, on July 22, 1994, in Hugoton, Kansas in his parents, Dick and Peggy’s front yard. Jake and Kim were 4 days short of celebrating their 29th Anniversary.
Kim’s journey in the field of education was nothing short of remarkable. With a Master’s Degree in Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, she honed her skills and embarked on a teaching career that touched the lives of countless students. Her peers held her in high esteem for her dedication and unwavering commitment to her profession. She began her teaching career at Yarbrough, where she taught for 10 years. Kimmie started in Elkhart in 2002: ESL for 11 years, 1st grade for 8 years, 7th grade boys basketball 1 year, 8th grade girls’ basketball 8 years, Middle School head Volleyball coach 10 years, High School girls’ assistant basketball coach 7 years, High School Head Volleyball Coach 6 years, Jr Class Sponsor 3 years, and NAC/PDC Committee Chair for 17 years. Kim was selected as the Morton County Conservation District Teacher of the year in 2022.
As a coach, Kim not only looked at her players from a coach’s perspective, but she also was interested in their growth as individuals that would help them to reach their goals in their life. Her passion of competitive sports went on to become a diehard Oklahoma Sooner Fan for life. Her favorite “There is ONLY one Oklahoma, Boomer Sooner.”
Kim was compassionate about everything she did and contributed to numerous organizations such as 4-H, Fair Board, 4-H Council, Alpha Phi Sorority, County Fair, and the Extension Board.
Beyond her career achievements, Kim will be remembered for the immense love and care she showered upon her family. She was the rock – a nurturing mother and devoted wife – who placed the happiness and well-being of her children and husband above all else. Her infectious joy and happy-go-lucky personality brought immeasurable happiness to her loved ones.
One of Kim’s greatest joys was being a ”Gammie” to her sweet baby Hudson. Their bond was cherished, creating memories that will forever warm the hearts of all who knew her.
Kim’s proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children, spouse, and grandson, Hudson. She took immense pride in their achievements and found solace in being surrounded by their love. Jake, Kali, Kacee, Chantry, and Sage — these were the lights of Kim’s life.
Kimberly Dawn Hoskinson is survived by many cherished family members and friends who mourn the loss of an incredible woman with a heart full of love. Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled. She joins eternity preceded in death by her Paternal Grandparents, Oren and Irma Applegarth; her Maternal Grandparents, Earl and Mildred Hoskins; and Brother-In-Law, Jared Alan Hoskinson.
Her memory lives on in the hearts of her grieving loved ones. Her Husband, Jake Hoskinson of Rolla, KS; Daughter Kali and husband George Winger; Grandson Hudson Winger of Elkhart, KS; Daughters Kacee and Chantry Hoskinson of Rolla, KS; Son Sage Hoskinson and fiancé Madison of Hooker, OK; Parents Don and Carol Kissell of Elkhart, KS; Brother Donnie and wife Michelle Kissell of Ulysses, KS; Sister Cheryl Matz and husband Don of Lake Charles, LA; Father and Mother-In-Law Dick and Peggy Hoskinson of Hugoton, KS; Brother and Sister-In-Law Jeff and Deleta Hoskinson of Hugoton, KS; Sister-In-Law Andra Larrabee of Dodge City, KS; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All find solace knowing that Kim’s love will forever be in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Robson Funeral Home, in Elkhart, Kansas.
A book signing to honor Kimberly Dawn Hoskinson’s life will take place at Robson Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas on Sunday, July 23rd from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Monday, July 24th from 10 AM to 7 PM.

A Celebration of Life event will be held on July 25th at the Elkhart High School – Fowler Field House Gymnasium starting at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jess Lee presiding.
