The Liberal Bee Jays won their fifth consecutive 4th of July Game Tuesday night at Brent Gould Field.  The Bee Jays defeated the Dodge City A’s 9-5.  The big inning was a six run third in which the Bee Jays blasted three home runs into the summer air.

The A’s scored first plating to first inning runs.  Starter Jackson Berry would settle in pitching four straight scoreless innings.  Liberal tied the game in the second with two runs.  Ethan Calder led off the inning with a single.  Mateo Garcia walked.  River Jackson singled home two runs for the 2-2 tie.  The B.J.’s broke the game open in the third.  Coldon Kiser ripped a double down the left field line to begin the inning.  He was later thrown out at home trying to score from second on a wild pitch.  Isaac Webb’s hustling double and stolen base at third set the B.J.’s back up.  Owen May walked.  Walker Polk blasted a three run home run to the top of the threes in left.  Justin Hudson launched a solo home run over the center field wall.  Mateo Garcia made it back to back home runs with a shot over the right center field wall for the 8-2 lead.  The Bee Jays tacked on a fourth inning run when Mateo Garcia singled home a run.  The A’s rallied with two in the sixth and one in the seventh to make it 9-5.  But Konnar Williams pitched two scoreless innings to close it out.

Both teams had 11 hits and only the B.J.’s committed an error.  But the difference was the long ball.  Liberal hit three and Dodge City did not hit a home run.  Jackson Berry pitched five strong innings for the win.  Mateo Garcia was the Epic Touch Player of the Game with a 2-3 game with two RBI’s.  Coldon Kiser was 2-3.

The A’s are 9-12 and 5-7 in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League.  Liberal is 14-4 overall and 8-1 in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League.  Hays is in second at 8-2.  The Bee Jays have won 15 of the last 16 against DC.  Liberal hosts the North Platte Plainsmen Wednesday night at 7pm on 1270 and 92.3 with Bee Jay Dugout Show at 6:45.  KSCB and the Legend is the buyout sponsor.  Bee Jay play by play announcer Brock Kappelmann will be recognized before the game for his 25 years as play by play announcer for the Bee Jays.
