Wesley Allen Payton

Wesley Allen Payton, 35, of Turpin, passed away on Saturday May 6, 2023 in Liberal, KS.

He was born on October 13, 1987 to Allen and Marion (Land) Payton in Tucumcari, NM.

On February 1, 2014 he married Cara Hendrickson in Tucumcari, NM.

Wesley was a graduate of Tucumcari High School; class of 2004. He then went on to obtain his Associate Degree from Mesalands Community College in 2006.
Wesley was currently working as a Mechanic at the USD 480 Bus Barn. He had previously worked for Foss Ford and Becker Tire Co. in Liberal. Wesley and Cara moved to the Liberal area shortly after they were married.
He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, working on engines, and recently mastering the art of smoking meat. Whenever Wesley was into a hobby he was “all in”! Wesley had a great, “quirky’ sense of humor and loved to laugh with his family and friends. He was always helping people. Wesley was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberal..

Wesley is survived by his loving wife Cara Payton of Turpin, OK, Two Daughters, Madison Payton and Jamie Payton, Mother, Marion Payton of Tulsa, OK, Sister, Julie Yearout and husband Matt of Tulsa, OK.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Allen Payton.

Per the family’s request, there will be no public viewing.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, 1:00 pm at the Fellowship Baptist Church, with Pastor Tyler Prater, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
