Seward Women’s Tennis Remains in 6th

TYLER, Texas – The Lady Saints added two more points to their total on day four and with these two points remain at 6th place heading into the final day of competition. With 25 total points the Lady Saints sit one point behind a top 5 finish with two championship matches to be played. Hillsborough Community College and Cowley College sit tied at first with 41 total points.

The day started off with two semifinal wins. First, Camille Belberka defeated number one seeded Arina Gamretkaia of Hillsborough Community College in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3 to move to the championship match for the #1 singles draw. The second win came from Carol Mora defeating conference foe, Luciana Braga of Barton in straight sets to advance to the championship match of the #2 singles draw. Both of these championship matches will take place at 8 a.m. CT tomorrow.

After the early matches the Lady Saints di not fare so well dropping the last three matches of the day. Jaena Morais was defeated by Aubree Schultz of Moraine Valley Community College 8-5 in the back draw of the #4 singles and both doubles pairings lost in straight sets. Camille Belberka and Carol Mora were defeated by Jou Chen Chen and Nicole Dufour of ABAC while Ana Isabela Serrano and Jaena Morais came up short agiainst Alicia Gomez and Yoana Dudova of Hillsborough Community College. All sets ended 6-2 in the oppenents favor of both matches.

As for the championship matches, here is who the Lady Saints will face off against:

#1 Singles – 5/10/2023 – CHAMPIONSHIP 

(5) Camille Belberka vs (3) Alexandra Melnikova (Cowley College) – 8 a.m. CT

#2 Singles – 5/10/2023 – CHAMPIONSHIP

(1) Carol Mora vs (2) Arina Babenko (Cowley College) – 8 a.m. CT
