LHS Opens Softball Season at Derby

Lady Red traveled to Derby in a triad vs both Derby and Goddard. Being first game of the season the Lady Red played nervous and out of sync.
Jenna Ormiston pitched well putting the ball in play for defense in game 1. However errors cost the team. Lady Red would end up losing 15 to 0.
In Game 2 Lady Red faced a Goddard team who hit the ball hard. The Team would slow them early and even get a run, but in the fourth the flood gates opened. Lady Red would fall 22 to 1
Both teams we faced were legit. We knew that going in. We will see teams like this in Regionals. We have to tweek our practices and clean up mistakes. It’s always tough to see these teams early without a tune up before. But it’s done and out of the way. we had some positives. Now we see how team responds.
Lady Red face rival Great Bend in a single at home Tuesday then a double in Greatbend Thursday.
JV lost both games as well. 24 to 0 to Derby and 3 to 24 to Goddard.
