Kirkwood Sweeps Saints

The Kirkwood Eagles came to Liberal and swept the Seward County Saints in a four game series Saturday and Sunday afternoons at Brent Gould Field.  The Eagles topped the Saints Saturday 15-5 and 15-7 before the group from Cedar Rapids, Iowa beat the Saints Sunday 14-3 and 15-6.

In game one Saturday, it was a run rule in five innings.  Kirkwood scored five in the first and the fifth.  Mason Hagel-Pitt, Jaxson Gregg, and Ranse Radtke had two hits a piece.  Kirkwood out hit the Saints 13-10.

In game two Saturday, the Saints took a 5-3 lead after two.  But the Eagles plated two in the third and five in the fourth to lead 9-5.  Kirkwood added two in the sixth and three in the seventh.  Kirkwood out hit the Saints 17-13.  The Eagles had four errors and SCCC had three.  Elijah Bear and Trenton Rowan were both 3-4.

Game one Sunday was a 14-3 game which finished after five.  Kirkwood scored four in the first, one in the third, five in the fourth, and four in the fifth.

Game two on Sunday saw the Saints lead 4-3 after two.  But Kirkwood scored eight in the third and two in the fourth to blow the game open.

Seward is 4-4 and Kirkwood is 4-0.  The Saints play at Odessa Friday and at Midland on Saturday.
