Lady Red Gains Gritty Win at Great Bend

The Liberal Lady Redskins are tied for first in the Western Athletic Conference after a hard fought 43-38 win over the Great Bend Lady Panthers at the Field House in Great Bend Friday night.  The five point spread as the final horn sounded equaled the biggest lead of the night for either team.   Liberal and Dodge City are 3-1 in the WAC.

Liberal took an early 7-2 lead in front of the big homecoming crowd at GBHS.  LHS led 9-8 after one quarter.  Great Bend claimed a 13-9 lead before the Lady Red rallied to lead 18-17 at halftime.  The Lady Panthers led 25-22 but LHS rallied and led 34-33 after three.  LHS took a 41-37 lead with 2:48 remaining.  Liberal led 41-38 with 2:30 to go but got a couple of stops before Rylie Hallman was fouled and sank free throws to the five point lead.

Liberal shot 37 percent from the field while going 4-9 from three and 7-9 at the foul line.  Great Bend shot 43 percent from the field while going 2-7 from three and 4-8 at the foul line.  The Lady Redskins forced Great Bend into 17 turnovers.

Rylie Hallman was the Epic Touch Player of the Game and scored eight points with three steals. Hallie West also had eight points and three steals.  Keyona Hall scored eight.

Liberal wins their 13ths straight against Great Bend and improves to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in the WAC.  Great Bend is 6-8 and 1-3 in the WAC.  Liberal hosts Guymon Tuesday night at 6pm on 1270 and 92.3.  Redskin Pre-game airs at 5:45.
