Karl F. Holston, age 74, passed away from this life on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at his home in Hugoton, Kansas. Karl was the son of James Edmond and Ellen Elizabeth (Garlinghouse) Holston, and he was born on December 8, 1948, in Cortez, Colorado. He grew up in Mancos, CO roaming the mountains hunting and fishing with his Grandma Garlinghouse.
He and Karen Sue Dale were married on July 17, 1967, in Cortez, Colorado. To this union were two children: Ian Todd and Tanya Dawn Holston. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Karl liked living as a mountain man and enjoyed the outdoors, beading, and leatherwork. Karl enjoyed walking his dogs, Lucy and Gator. He was a devoted husband and father; he cherished time with his family.
Karl started working for Superior (ExxonMobile) in 1976 in Wyoming. While working for Superior, Karl worked as a Deputy Sheriff, firefighter, and paramedic in Wyoming. He then moved to several states and was finally relocated to Hugoton. He loved his work in the Oil and Gas Industry. Karl worked for Exxon Mobile for 40 years and retired in 2015.
Survivors include his wife, Karen S. Holston, Hugoton, KS.; son, Ian “Todd” Holston, and fiancé, Jessica Jackson, Fargo, ND.; daughter, Tanya Dawn Holston-Shedd and husband, William, Lawrence, KS.; three sisters, Ellen Barz, Mancos, CO., Virginia Rosa, Bailey, CO., Tamie Taylor, Anchorage, AK.; five grandchildren, Jade Holston-Green, Brooklyn, NY., Laura Holston, Fargo, ND., Keaghan Shedd, Lawrence, KS., Jace Holston, Fargo, ND., Alexander Shedd, Lawrence, KS.; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

There will be no visitation hours held per Karl’s request.
The funeral service will be held Monday, January 30, 2023, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church of Hugoton, with Heath Kelley presiding. Burial to follow at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas.
