Liberal Girls Get it Done in Garden City

Liberal’s girls basketball team is 7-0 and 2-0 in the WAC after a 58-50 win at Garden City on Tuesday night.  Liberal led by double digits for most of the game.

The Lady Redskins led 15-8 after one quarter and took leads of 20-8 and 27-14 in the second quarter before leading 33-16 at the half.  The Lady Skins led 39-17 early in the second half but the Lady Buffaloes out scored LHS 17-12 in the third quarter to make the scored 45-33 LHS after three.

Liberal shot 46 percent from the field and Garden City shot 35 percent.  The Lady Red shot 5-14 from three and just 9-21 at the foul line.  GCHS was 6-17 from three and 12-17 at the free throw line.  Liberal out-rebounded Garden City 36-23.  LHS committed only 12 turnovers and grabbed 11 steals.

Hailey Contreras scored 15 points and dished six assists to be Epic Touch Player of the Game.  Keyona Hall scored 11.  Shamari Lewis had seven points and nine rebounds.

Liberal has won 16 of the past 17 against Garden City and is 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the WAC.  Garden City is 4-5 and 1-1 in the WAC.  Liberal plays at Dodge City on Friday night at 6pm on 1270 and 92.3 with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45.
