SCCC Invites Local, State legislators to Lunch on Campus

Joe Denoyer - December 7, 2022 4:06 pm

Seward County Community College President Brad Bennett will host a legislative lunch at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 on the SCCC campus. Legislators and elected officials from Liberal, Seward County, and the Southwest Kansas region were invited to visit the home of the Saints, and more than 30 are expected to attend.

“This is a way for us to connect with legislators who are always busy and want to remain in touch with their constituents, who are also our shareholders,” said Bennett. “SCCC is a community college — we exist for our community, we serve it, and we enhance so many projects that legislators are working on. So it’s a high priority for us to cultivate those relationships.”

Bennett said the event will provide an opportunity for SCCC representatives to showcase the college’s signature programs and new developments, and to answer questions. Representatives from USD 480, the City of Liberal, and Seward County administration will also participate.

“It’s been a long time since people could meet face to face for these kinds of events, and we’re really excited to host this on campus,” he said.
