Chris K McDaniel

Chris K McDaniel, 69, of Liberal, passed away on Tuesday November 8, 2022 at his home.

He was born on December 25, 1952 to Howard and Stella (Atterbery) McDaniel at Great Bend, KS.

On November 6, 1976 he married Mary Ramona “Mona” Casaus at Liberal, KS.

On August 8, 1971 Chris enlisted into the United States Army in Amarillo, TX; he also went on to serve in the National Guard, and Army Reserve. He was a Vietnam Era E8 First Sergeant. McDaniel received the Army Achievement Medal while serving as Senior Drill Sergeant 95th Division, Guymon, Ok. He also received the Army Commendation Medal while serving as Chaparral Squad Leader, 4th Infantry, Fort Carson, Colorado. McDaniel was also the recipient of the Certificate of Achievement as an Army Reserve Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for the 95th Division. After serving active duty with the US Army Chris went into business as a Master Electrician where he owned and operated Mac Bro’s Electric. Chris also worked as Residential Director of SKADAF for five years. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and a member of the American Legion Post 80.

Chris was a life-long student. He enjoyed travel, woodworking, blacksmithing, gunsmithing, coin collecting, and enlightening all he met. Quick to laugh, Chris loved making others laugh, too. He never met a stranger. A Christian, Chris loved God, his home, and family.

Chris is survived by his loving Wife: Mona; Daughter: Christa Jo McDaniel; Three Sons: Joseph M McDaniel, Michael D McDaniel, David C McDaniel; Brother: Jerry H McDaniel; Sister: Marcia A Brack; numerous Nieces & Nephews, Nine Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son, Johnathan J McDaniel, Sister, Judy K Bryan.

There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 am Saturday November 12, 2022 at the Miller Mortuary Chapel.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Legion Post 80 in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826. Memorials given need to be made payable directly to the “American Legion Post 80”
