7A from Coach Kadow – 

7th Grade Lady Apaches Game Report
The 7th Grade Lady Apaches travelled to Dodge City to play
the Cardinals. In the A game the Apaches playing in their
first game of the season won 26 to 1. They played very tough
defense but showed balance in their scoring. Ana Vela
Armendariz was the high scorer with 8 pts., Rae Rae Dean,
and Evelyn Sandoval both scored 6, and Viviana Favila and
Jaylani West both added 3 pts., each

 
 
8A from Coach Sniff – 
The 8th grade A team Apaches started the year off right with a win against Dodge City Middle School. It was a low scoring defensive battle with the Apaches shutting the Cardinals out for 3 quarters and only allowing 2 points in the contest. We were led by Ashley Vizcarra who finished the game with 10 points. Brianna Piñon and Selena Ontiveros also contributed a free throw each. We will try to keep the momentum going as we head to Hays on Saturday to play Hays and Great Bend.
8th Lady Warriors struggled this weekend at Hays.
A team lost to Hays 43-5, Madysen Hammond and Trinity Olvera had 2 pts each and Rebecca Davis 1 pt.
B team lost to Great Bend 27-0.
In their second matchup,
B team faced Hays next and lost 62-4. Evelyn Gonzalez and Lorena Meza scored 2 pts each.
A team faced Great Bend and lost 35-15. Madysen Hammond scored 10 pts, Rebecca Davis and Shiaa Dunlap scored 2 pts each

— On Saturday the lady Warriors 7th grade basketball team traveled to Great Bend to play two games against Hays and Great Bend.  In the first game the 7A girls took on the Hays Lady Falcons.  The Lady Warriors struggled in the first and third quarters getting outscored 11-4 and 13-6.  The Lady Warriors would fight back in the second and fourth quarter but came up short losing by a score of 27-20.  Leading scorers for that game were Devaney Carter 6 points, and Maliyah Mullens 6 points and 9 rebounds.  Haiden Lyon also pulled down 5 rebounds.

In the second game the 7A Lady Warriors took on the Lady Panthers from Great Bend.  The Lady Warriors came out and took control of the game from the tip off to the end of the game.  The Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Panthers by a score of 32-10.  Leading Scorers were:  Maliyah Mullens 15 pts and 7 rebounds, and Miah Janko had 6pts.

Saturday the Eisenhower Warriors 7th grade B-team traveled to Great Bend taking on Great Bend and Hays.  The Ladies started the day against Hays. After the opening quarter the Warriors played tough while leading 5-2.  The Ladies blanked the Hawks in the second going into Intermission up 12-2 .A tenacious press and half court game gave the Warriors many opportunities to score.  Ashley Batista and Valeria Gandero combined for 17 of the team high 25 steals. Eisenhower outpaced the Hawks in the second half 13-10 with an opening win 25 -12.

Leading the Warriors was Valeria Gandero with 11 pts, Jesslyn Heredia 6 pts, Savannah Olvera 4pts with Ashley Batista & Yuridia Gonzalez contributing 2 pts each. Jesslyn Heredia also pulled in a team high 8 rebounds.

The Warriors didn’t see a break playing the Panthers right after. The Warriors started sluggishly, but midway through the 1st quarter the full court press set in as the ladies pressured Great Bend to make turnovers.  The Warriors led 8-2 after the first. The ladies continued scoring 8 points in each  quarter thereafter finishing the day with a 32-14 victory.

Eisenhower was led again by Valeria Gandera with 14 pts, Yuridia Gonzalez 10 pts, Jesslyn Heredia 4 pts while Ahley Batista & Julissa Moreno each had 2 pts.  Valeria also led the team with 11 steals and Jesslyn grabbed 8 rebounds.

Both wins were a team effort as everyone contributed positive plays when on the court. The Warriors start the season on a 3-0 run. Next up is Dodge Middle on Thursday in Dodge City.
