Seward County Commission Approves Appeal of Zoning Administrator

Joe Denoyer - October 3, 2022 8:11 pm

The Seward County Board of County Commissioners met Monday evening and approved the appeal of the Zoning Administrators decision and will allow the construction of a 5400-square-foot accessory building.

Commissioners Proclaimed October 2-7, 2022 as National 4-H week in Seward County, and since MCH requires the services of a licensed advanced practice registered nurse per KDHE Melia Stoll will be filling this position with the approved Memorandum of Understanding.

The County Commissioners approved Cimarron Basin’s fiscal year 2023 Carryover Reimbursement budget for submission to the Kansas Department of Corrections, discussed the revised Restlawn Cemetery Rules and Regulations and will bring the changes back before the Commission in a Resolution, and approved the bid from MTR Stone & Masonry for the repair/replacement of the stone wall at the entrance to Restlawn Cemetery.

Also approved was the Wage Plan Adjustment for EMS which reflects moving starting Paramedics to $18.00 per hour, starting wage for AEMT to $16.00 per hour, and the starting wage for EMT to $15.00 per hour. This will go into effect immediately.

The annual contract with Hay, Rice & Associates for the 2022 audit of Seward County, was approved in the amount of $51,100.00.

With the City of Liberals decision to offer for sale, all airport leased lot properties to current tenants, the Commission gave direction to the County Administrator to provide written notice to the Airport Manager with the City of Liberal that they are interested in purchasing the two properties the County currently leases. Those properties are the Activity Center Lease and one for the Sheriff’s Department.

The Commission approved moving the next Commission meeting to October 14th due to a conflict with the Kansas Association of County’s Annual meeting and not having a quorum.
