Forgan Man Dies in Accident in Beaver County

A fatality accident occurred on Saturday at afternoon at County Road EW 5 and County Road NS 126, which is 5 north and 7 east of Turpin, Oklahoma in Beaver County.

A 2022 Ford F250 pickup truck driven by Earl Wayne Semmel, age 87, of Forgan, Oklahoma was westbound on County Road EW 5. A 2015 Kenworth truck driven by Arthur Pienaar, 22, of Liberal, was southbound on County Road
NS 126. Semmel failed to yield to a yield sign at the intersection of County Road EW5 and County Road NS 126.
Pineaar swerved to the right to avoid the Semmel vehicle, but Semmel’s vehicle then struck the semi on the drivers side front bumper.
The Ford then rotated one and one quarter time, ejecting Semmel through the passenger side window, and departed the roadway to the left. The semi departed the road in an attempt to avoid the contact. After the Ford struck the semi, The Kenworth continued southbound through the ditch before coming to rest in the upright position in
a field to the west of County Road NS 126.

Semmel was transported by Beaver County EMS to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal,
Kansas where he died from head and trunk internal injuries.

Pienaar was not injured.
