Valentines Day 2010 proved to be a very lucky day for Seward County Community College student Sheniece Morton as she was crowned the new Miss Liberal for 2010. Morton had twice previously entered the pageant, but reigned supreme on Sunday at the Jim Maskus Auditorium at Liberal High School. Sheniece came out on top in a field of nine young ladies and was crowned the new Miss Liberal, by 2009 Miss Liberal, Elizabeth Rohloff. Morton also won the talent, fitness/swimsuit, and evening gown segements of the competition. Sheniece is the daughter of Iris Huskey. Her platform is “College Expenses”. In addition to her duties as Miss Liberal, Sheniece will also represent Liberal in the Miss Kansas Pageant. First runner up in the pageant was Liberal High School senior Valerie Rito, who also won the interview segement. Second runnerup was was Emily Jackson, while Kelsi Moree came in as the third runner up. Rounding out the top 5 was Lydia Young as the fourth runner up. Contestant Jordan Eder from SCCC/ATS was voted Miss Congeniality by the other contestants. The pageant was emceed by Chris Jewell, Elizabeth Rohloff, and former Liberal Resident, and the current Miss Kansas Becki Ronen.
