The Seward County Commission met Monday evening and after a brief discussion, The Board of Seward County Commissioners accepted the offer from Levi Williams for $79,000 for the purchase of the former Health Department Building located at 103 W. 2nd St. The Board also asked to have legal counsel draw up the necessary paperwork for the sale of the property.

Following proper protocols, and due to the valuation not being certified until November, and outstanding appeals before the board of tax appeals that could cause a change in valuation, the County approved holding a public hearing for the possibility of exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate. Date of the hearing is set for September 6th. A second hearing scheduled for the same day, for the same purpose is for Rural Fire as they are a separate taxing entity.

The Commission approved the purchase of 5 new Sharp MFPs to replace the current MFPs that are out of their lease contract now. The location for each one is:
2 at the Sheriff’s office, 1 at District court, 1 at the Event Center, and 1 in the Treasurer’s office.

Greg Standard was also appointed to serve on the Homeland Security Council.
