Bee Jays Epic in the Eighth at Haysville

The Liberal Bee Jays began at two game series with the Haysville Aviators with a 17-6 run rule win Monday night at Vulcan Field in Haysville. It was a chance for two former Jayhawk League brothers to re-unite in a non league series. The Bee Jays scored nine in the eighth to end the game in a run rule.
The Aviators scored two in the second to take the lead. Liberal responded with five in the third and two in the fourth for a 7-2 lead. Haysville scored a run in the bottom of the fourth. Haysville scored three in the sixth to make it 7-6. Liberal chased home a seventh inning run to make the score 8-6 Liberal. The Powder Blue and Red blew the game open with nine in the eighth.
Liberal out-hit Haysville 15-8 while Haysville had four errors and the BJ’s did not commit an error.
Caden Hensley stayed hot going 4-5 with two doubles and five RBI’s. Zach Yorke was 3-4. Keaton Grady was 2-5 with three runs. Luke Smith was 2-6 with two RBI’s and three runs.
Nick Andrews started the game on the mound and went two innings. Sean Brady went three innings allowing one earned run. Robert Bonilla pitched one inning. Colby Diduch went two scoreless innings.
Liberal is 7-0. The same two teams play at 5:30 Tuesday night in Haysville.
