Redskins Breeze by Buffaloes

On an evening with the wind blowing out 30-40 mph, the Liberal Redskins put it all together for a 14-5 win over the Garden City Buffaloes at the National Beef Sports Complex Tuesday evening.  The Redskins have won four in a row and gained their first WAC win since 2019.

On a difficult day to play defense, the Buffaloes scored two runs when Liberal’s double play attempting throw was wide of first.  But the Redskins answered with four in the first.  Erek Lira’s line drive to center resulted in a three RBI double when the GCHS diving attempt fell short.  Carlos Campos singled home Lira.  Garden City plated one run in the second and two in the fourth to take a 5-4 lead after 2.5 innings.  The Redskins broke the game open with an eight run third.  Erek Lira walked bfore Carlos Campos and Brooks Kappelmann singled.  Oscar Rubio singled home two.  Aidan Schwindt singled and Zayden Martinez grounded out to score a run.  Hunter Huskey singled home two.  Izzy Rotolo singled home a run.  Shay Kerr singled home a run.  Lira reached on a dropped third strike and Carlos Campos singled him home.  Liberal scored eight runs on eight hits in the inning.  Liberal added two in the fourth to lead 14-5.  Aidan Schwindt was hit by a pitch and Hunter Huskey reached on a dropped third strike.  Izzy Rotolo singled.

Carlos Campos was 3-4 with two RBI’s and is 12-14 the past four games.  Izzy Rotolo and Brooks Kappelmann added two hits a piece.  Erek Lira drove home three runs.  Brooks Kappelmann pitched four innings striking out six and walking two.  Aidan Schwindt worked three shutout innings.

Liberal is 6-5 and 1-5 in the WAC.  Garden City is 6-6 and 3-4 in the WAC.  Liberal plays in Wichita against Life Prep Friday and Saturday.

 

The Redskins JV moves to 8-4 on the season with a 13-9 victory over Garden City Tuesday night.

Liberal Redskins JV nabbed the lead late in the game in a 13-9 victory over Garden City on Tuesday.  The game was tied at nine with Liberal Redskins JV batting in the bottom of the fourth when Xavier Porras singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Liberal Redskins JV earned the victory despite allowing Garden City to score seven runs in the fourth inning.

Liberal Redskins JV tallied four runs in the second inning.  The offensive onslaught by Liberal Redskins JV was led by Adan Mata, Alexander Schwindt, and Marco Alonso, all driving in runs in the inning.

Skyler Hubbard earned the win for Liberal Redskins JV. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one.

Fidel Avila started the game for Liberal Redskins JV. The lefthander lasted three innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out five Bors started the game for Garden City. The pitcher surrendered ten runs on five hits over three innings, striking out two

Liberal Redskins JV racked up eight hits on the day.  Porras and Alonso all managed multiple hits for Liberal Redskins JV.  Alonso and Porras each managed two hits to lead Liberal Redskins JV.

 

Game one Loss 13-3

Monday’s game against Hooker was a heartbreaker for Liberal Redskins JV, as they lost the lead late in a 13-3 defeat.  The game was tied at one with Hooker batting in the top of the third when Lynch singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

The Liberal Redskins JV struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Hooker, giving up 13 runs.

Alexander Schwindt took the loss for Liberal Redskins JV. The righty surrendered nine runs on three hits over two innings, striking out three.

Skyler Hubbard, Fidel Avila, Adan Mata, and Aidan Schwindt all had one hit to lead Liberal Redskins JV.

Liberal bounces back and wins 9-1 behind a no hitter by Marco Alonso.

Marco Alonso was brilliant on the hill on Monday, as Alonso threw a no-hitter to lead Liberal Redskins JV past Hooker 9-1.

Liberal Redskins JV secured the victory thanks to five runs in the third inning.  Liberal Redskins JV’s offense in the inning came from singles by Alexander Schwindt, Alonso, and Ayden Juarez.

Liberal Redskins JV tallied five runs in the third inning.  Schwindt, Alonso, and Juarez all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Alonso earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Liberal Redskins JV. The pitcher surrendered one run on zero hits over four innings, striking out four.

Liberal Redskins JV racked up eight hits on the day.  Landon Martinez and Alex Schwindt each had multiple hits for Liberal Redskins JV.  Alex Schwindt and Martinez each collected two hits to lead Liberal Redskins JV.
