Rodger Dale Greer

Joe Denoyer - March 21, 2022 4:36 pm

Rodger Dale Greer of Sublette, KS, passed away on March 18, 2022, at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colorado because of complications of COVID-19. He was born March 27, 1964, to Nadine Adelle (Beard) and Robert Greer in Long Beach, California. Rodger grew up in California and Texas before moving to Satanta where he attended school, graduating from Satanta High School in 1982. He went on to fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Rodger met Sherlyn Sue Walter in 1999 and married on July 22, 2000, and enjoyed 21 wonderful years together.

Rodger served for 20 plus years in law enforcement in both Arizona and Kansas. He was also a Third Degree Mason. Rodger loved to fish, listen to classic rock, and spend time with his family and grandchildren. Being “P” to his grandchildren was his most cherished title.

Despite his trials, both health and personal, Rodger was never negative or callous. He was quick to sacrifice for anyone in need—family or other wise. Always offering a kind smile or joke, he never knew a stranger.

Rodger enjoyed a blended family and is survived by his wife Sherlyn Greer, his father, Robert “Bob” Greer; children, Megan and Rob Kirchner, Kelsey Greer, Colton Greer, Garrett and Ashley Walter, Brock and Jennifer Walter, and Heath and Rachel Kirmer; grandchildren, Hailey and Riley Kirchner, Brayden Walter, Maddie Whitehead, and Paysley and Denver Walter; and his cherished dog, Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nadine Powell, and his beloved dog, Maggie.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 24, at Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1547 Road 190, Sublette, Kansas.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Friday, March 25, at the Sublette Christian Church with Pastors David Erwin and Benjamin Clubb officiating. Interment will be at Haskell County Cemetery immediately following the service.
