Ibarguen’s Big Night Not Enough

The Seward County Saints were thinking upset Wednesday night in the Hutchinson Sports Arena. They led 51-49 with 8:40 remaining against the #19 Blue Dragons. Harvin Ibarguin carried the Saints offensively with 26 points and 12 rebounds. He did that on 12-13 shooting. But Hutchinson prevailed 73-59 closing out the game on a 24-8 run.
The Blue Dragons led 19-10 before the Saints cut the lead to 22-20. Hutch led 29-20 before the Saints rallied and a Jaylin Henderson three cut lead to 32-29 Blue Dragons at the half. The Saints led 42-41 with 14:30 to play. Seward led 44-43. An Ibarguen put back slam made it 46-45 Saints. Harvin’s reverse layup and free throw gave the Saints a 51-49 lead with 8:40 left. Hutch outscored the Saints 24-8 the rest of the way.
Hutch shot 49 percent from the field. Seward shot 40 percent from the field. Hutch out rebounded SCCC 40-26. Seward forced the Dragons into 19 turnovers. Seward led points in the paint 32-22.
Seward drops their ninth straight road game. Seward is 11-18 overall and 8-15 in the Jayhawk. Hutchinson is 21-6 overall and 15-6 in the Jayhawk.
