#3 Olathe North Holds Down Liberal

The Liberal girls met their match Friday night in the Big House.  Third ranked Olathe North topped the Lady Redskins 45-38 holding Liberal to 34 percent shooting in the win.  The Lady Eagles shot 44 percent.

Olathe North took an early 8-2 advantage and led 13-7 after one quarter.  The Lady Eagles led 21-13 before the Lady Skins mounted a rally to cut the lead to three at 21-18 and it was 23-20 at the half.  A three pointer by Ashley Carrillo tied the game at 23-23 early in the second half.  Olathe North flexed their muscles in the third quarter out pacing LHS 18-8 to lead 41-28 after three.  Olathe North led by as many as 14 at 39-25.  Liberal mounted a rally in the fourth cutting the lead to six and 42-36 with 1:40 to play.

Ashley Carrillo led Liberal with 13 points.  Hailey Contreras scored nine in the loss. Bree Horyna had five points and seven rebounds.  Olathe North out rebounded LHS 29-20. Olathe North was 6-13 from three point range and Liberal was 6-20.  Olathe North was 7-17 from the foul line and Liberal was 2-5.

Liberal is 2-1.  It’s just their third home loss in the past five seasons.  Olathe North is 2-0.
